Educational & Legal Disclaimer
Our courses are education, not legal, medical or psychological advice. What to do in an emergency instead.
Version 1.0 · Effective [EFFECTIVE DATE]
If a child or adult is in immediate danger, stop reading and call the police on 112, or Childline on 1098. Axio is a certification body. We are not an emergency service, a reporting authority, a helpline or a counselling service, and we cannot intervene in an incident.
1Our courses are educational
Axio’s courses — including Women’s Safety in Sport and Exercise — are general professional education for coaches. They are designed to build judgement about safeguarding, boundaries, reporting and safe practice.
They are not, and must not be relied on as:
- legal advice, or a statement of your legal obligations;
- medical, physiotherapeutic, nutritional or sports-science advice;
- psychological, psychiatric or counselling advice;
- a substitute for your organisation’s own safeguarding policy, or for training your regulator or employer requires;
- a substitute for professional judgement in a real situation.
2On the law
Our material refers to Indian legislation including the POCSO Act, 2012, the POSH Act, 2013, the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 and the DPDP Act, 2023, and to guidance from sporting and government bodies.
Law changes, applies differently by state and by context, and turns on facts. We make reasonable efforts to keep material current, but we do not warrant that it is complete or up to date at the moment you read it. For advice on your situation, consult a qualified lawyer in your jurisdiction.
3Reporting obligations are yours
In India, certain reporting duties are personal and mandatory — under POCSO, for instance, a person who knows a sexual offence against a child has been committed and does not report it may themselves commit an offence.
Completing an Axio course does not transfer, discharge or reduce any such duty. It does not make Axio a reporting intermediary. Telling us about an incident is not a report to the authorities, and we cannot make that report on your behalf.
4Physical activity and health
Where material touches training load, physical safety, menstrual health or return to activity, it is general information for coaches, not individualised clinical guidance. Athletes with medical conditions, and decisions about an individual’s fitness to train or compete, require a qualified medical professional.
5Scenarios are fictional
Assessment scenarios and case studies are constructed for teaching and evaluation. Any resemblance to a real person, incident, academy or organisation is coincidental unless a source is explicitly cited. They are not accounts of real cases and must not be read as such.
6External sources and links
We cite published standards and link to external sources so our material can be checked. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or availability. A link is not an endorsement, and citing a standard does not mean the body that published it endorses Axio.
7Limits of certification
What an Axio certificate does and does not attest to is set out in the Certificate Policy. In short: it is evidence that defined competencies were demonstrated on a date. It is not a background check and not a guarantee of anyone’s future conduct.
